Dutch design studio develops system to suck smog from the Beijing sky


A Dutch design studio wants to drag smog particles from the sky down to earth, scoop them up and turn them into saleable goods. It might sound a bizarre and lofty idea, but Studio Roosegaarde is the collective behind the proposed rechargeable, glow-in-the-dark road markings, so it's no stranger to fantastical design.

"These Dutch always have a tendency to hack nature with their windmills, and we're continuing that tradition," studio founder Daan Roosegaarde tells Wired.co.uk. "Now we want to start hacking air. It's a special project that really merges the worlds of poetry and pragmatism.".
