Cellular signals used to make national rainfall map

Cellphones' talents are many and diverse. Mobile phones have been used to map the spread of malaria in east Africa, and now cellular technology has even been turned to measuring rainfall. Network operators use microwaves to link cellular towers together. When it rains, the signal received at the next tower down the line can be weakened by reflection off raindrops.
