New tyrannosaur found by Edinburgh scientists


PREHISTORIC remains discovered more than a century ago have been identified by Scottish scientists as a new species of marine super-predator, distantly related to modern-day crocodiles.

The animal, which had serrated teeth and a large gaping jaw has been named Tyrannoneustes lythrodectikos, meaning “blood-biting tyrant swimmer”.
