The results are in: DigitalGlobe’s social media fans have chosen a satellite image of the 2012 Burning Man festival as the best photo of the year.

DigitalGlobe is a company that takes high-quality satellite photographs of the Earth and sells them, as well as the data they collect.

For the second year, DigitalGlobe put it to their Facebook, Twitter, Google+ and Pinterest fans to choose their favorite image. Burning Man was it. In case you’re not familiar with Burning Man, I’ll let them describe themselves: “Burning Man is an annual art event and temporary community based on radical self expression and self-reliance in the Black Rock Desert of Nevada.”
